Timeline

The Southern Maryland Reliability Project was first announced to the public in Spring 2008, and the project received approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) in September 2009.

Construction on the Reliability Project will begin in Spring 2012, will occur in phases, and is planned to be completed by 2016:

  • Creating temporary access roads
  • Setting new foundations
  • Installing new poles
  • Hanging new wire
  • Crossing the Patuxent River

The Reliability Project will ensure reliable power for our customer-members with a minimal impact on current rates and the environment. Pole locations were carefully considered and discussed with homeowners along the route.
