About SMECO’s Annual Meeting
Every year, SMECO conducts its members’ meeting for the purpose of electing directors and voting on bylaw changes. As a member, you have the right to vote!
Board candidate applications are due in May
Eligible cooperative members interested in running in the 2026 election must submit their Board of Directors candidate applications to the Nominating Committee by 4 p.m., May 1, 2026. Nominations by petition are due by 4 p.m., May 21, 2026. In order to serve as a director, you must have been a SMECO member with your name on the account for at least one year.

Potential for data centers in SOMD
Data centers are a hot topic, and many members of our community are concerned about the possible impact they could have.
Standard Offer Service rate update
Total residential Standard Offer Service (SOS) rate for March:
$0.128390 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
- Winter Residential Energy Charge: $0.1060 per kWh
- March Residential PCA: $0.022390 per kWh
SMECO’s PCA for March was 21.18% more than the current residential base SOS rate.
