Help manage energy with DR programs
Demand-response programs help ease the strain on the electric grid, helping ensure reliable and affordable electricity for our community.
Imagine the electric grid like a highway during rush hour. When everyone amps up their usage at the same time—like cranking up the AC on a hot day—it creates an energy “traffic jam.” Demand-response programs help smooth things out by anticipating those peak periods of energy use and proactively managing small shifts in use during that time.
SMECO members can help manage energy more efficiently by participating in one of our demand-response programs—and earn bill credits for their assistance.
