SMECO held 31st regional MATHCOUNTS competition

Each year, more than 500 regional competitions are held in middle schools across the country. In 2025, your cooperative held the 31st annual regional MATHCOUNTS^® Competition at Calvert High School. The event on February 1, 2025, hosted more than 150 middle schoolers representing 18 different schools.

Board election process begins

SMECO’s 2025 Annual Members’ Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on August 20, 2025.

Every year, SMECO conducts its members’ meeting for the purpose of electing directors and voting on bylaw changes. In 2025, elections will be held to fill one position in Calvert, and two positions in Charles, one in St. Mary’s County and one in Prince George’s County. Ballots will be mailed and members can vote by mail or online.

Total residential Standard Offer Service (SOS) rate for February: $0.092084 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

• Winter Residential Energy Charge: $0.0854 per kWh
• February Residential Power Cost Adjustment (PCA): $0.006684 per kWh 

SMECO’s PCA for February was 7.76 percent greater than the current residential base SOS rate.
