SMECO honors outstanding mathematics, science, and
STEM teachers
SMECO worked with the school systems of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties to select and honor 20 educators with Outstanding Teacher awards for their leadership in the fields of mathematics, science, and STEM integration.The teachers were chosen for their outstanding performance in the areas of creativity, rapport with students, enthusiasm for teaching, professionalism, and innovative teaching methods. Each teacher receives a plaque and a cash award. In 33 years, SMECO has recognized 500 local mathematics and science teachers.

Since the data include PJM Interconnection (the regional transmission organization) wholesale market averages, the SMECO-specific emissions data may vary from these averages.

As part of our commitment to providing reliable service, SMECO has contractors performing asset inspections throughout Southern Maryland. You may see these contractors in your neighborhood over the next few months. We want you to know why and how to identify them.
How to spot the SMECO contractor
- Wearing a safety vest and hard hat
- Has a contractor ID
- Has a magnet on their vehicle identifying them as a SMECO contractor
- SMECO’s inspection contractors will not ask to see a copy of your bill or to enter your home.
