Cooperative honors outstanding teachers
SMECO worked with the school systems of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties to select and honor 23 educators with Outstanding Teacher awards for their leadership in the fields of mathematics, science, and STEM integration.

Reliability is a top priority. In order to ensure reliability, SMECO employees perform routine inspections of the system to ensure the equipment is in good, working order. The inspection may bring employees onto your property and we want you to know why they are there.
Environmental information for SMECO’s Standard Offer Service
The following environmental information is for Standard Offer Service. The data are published at the request of the Maryland Public Service Commission. The data are based on a combination of 2024 regional averages and SMECO’s Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in place. Since the data include PJM Interconnection (the regional transmission organization) wholesale market averages, the SMECO-specific emissions data may vary from these averages.

Standard Offer Service rate update
Total residential Standard Offer Service (SOS) rate for April: $0.100407 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
The residential SOS energy charge on your bill is the cost of the electricity supply you used in that billing cycle. The cost of energy is a direct, pass-through cost; SMECO doesn’t mark it up in any way as other “for-profit” energy suppliers do.
