Crews headed south to help with storm-related outages
Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc in September, leaving millions without power. Four SMECO crews joined thousands of other cooperative lineworkers from 17 states to assist in repairs over two weeks. The outpouring of support reflects the strength and unity of our cooperative community.
Nominate an Outstanding Teacher for 2025
Each year, SMECO works with the school systems of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties to present Outstanding Teacher awards to educators for their leadership in the fields of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering.
One dollar a month can help a neighbor
Part of being a good neighbor is lending a hand when needed, and we know our members share this charitable spirit, especially during the holidays. For people who have fallen on hard times, having enough money to pay past due electric bills can make a big difference. In 2023, 567 local families received this essential gift. By contributing to Members Helping Members, you can help your neighbors keep their lights on.
Keep your holidays merry and bright
SMECO wants you to have a safe and happy time throughout the holiday season. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, please keep safety in mind.
