Now is your chance to nominate an Outstanding Teacher

Each year, SMECO works with the school systems of Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s counties to present Outstanding Teacher awards to educators for their leadership in the fields of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering.

If you know any outstanding science, mathematics, or STEM teachers, invite them to submit an application to SMECO for consideration.

Nominated teachers should submit their packets by Wednesday, January 23, 2026.

Each winning teacher will receive a plaque and a cash award for $500 for their personal use.

HOW WE CHOOSE

Teachers are chosen for their outstanding performance in the areas of creativity, rapport with students, enthusiasm for teaching, professionalism, and innovative teaching methods.
