SMECO Holds 86th Annual Meeting

On August 21, 2024, SMECO held its 86th Annual Meeting at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall.

Local organizations benefit from SMECO donations

SMECO received a $10,000 contribution from CoBank to award to local organizations that SMECO has supported with matching funds. Each of the following received $2,500: A Community That Shares (ACTS); Patuxent Habitat for Humanity; American Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region; and the Clements Cuties Foundation.

Time-of-Use rates may help you save

SMECO has Time-of-Use (TOU) rates available for all residential and commercial customers. During peak times, energy costs are higher for SMECO, and during off-peak times, costs are lower. If you are billed on the traditional Standard Offer Service (SOS) rate, your cost doesn’t fluctuate based on the time of day you use the energy. But, if you select the TOU rate, your cost reflects the peak and off-peak price difference.

Total residential Standard Offer Service (SOS) rate for September: $0.090926 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

• Summer Residential Energy Charge: $0.0874 per kWh 
• September Residential Power Cost Adjustment (PCA): $0.003526 per kWh 

SMECO’s PCA for September was 4.09 percent of the current average annual base energy.
