Save energy and money with SMECO program

SMECO’s Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP) can help you save energy and money in three ways. You can get a home energy analysis, an HVAC tune-up, and a smart thermostat. Plus, each service offers additional options to help extend your savings.

HVAC tune-up

SMECO provides an HVAC tune-up to HEIP participants at no additional cost. An HVAC tune-up will improve the performance and efficiency of your existing heating and cooling system. Save energy and money by having your system restored to its optimal condition through various important procedures, including:

  • System diagnostic testing
  • Coil inspection
  • Indoor and outdoor coil cleaning
  • Expansion valve inspection
  • Electrical inspection
  • Refrigerant level inspection
  • Condensate drain clearing

Home energy analysis

A no-cost home energy analysis is a great way for you to get started on finding ways to save on your energy costs. When you schedule an appointment, a SMECO Energy Advisor will
visit your home to:

  • Analyze your home’s energy use.
  • Install energy-saving items—LEDs, faucet aerators, efficient-flow showerheads,
smart power strips, and pipe insulation (electric and gas water heaters only).
  • Provide upgrade recommendations that will further increase your savings and comfort.

Smart thermostat

Get a Honeywell T6 smart thermostat for as little as $5. Through SMECO’s HEIP, you can get a $100 instant rebate on this ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostat. And it
will be installed by a certified HVAC professional—at no additional cost to you (limit three per household).
