Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Associate Programmer Analyst. Under direct supervision this position will assist with planning, development and evaluation of new and existing information technology (IT) systems programming and/or analysis projects based on SMECO’s Corporate Plan, the IT Strategic Plan, the Information Security Program, user specifications, and Cooperative network capabilities. Support problem resolution of programs and applications; participate in assessing new solutions. The position will have a primary focus on Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Meter Data Management System (MDMS), and related intelligent grid applications/systems. Secondary application support will focus on other IT applications as assigned. Assists with conducting analyses to address end user IT requirements and monitors established solutions’ operating efficiency. Assists with the IT Help Desk and risk management.
As part of SMECO’s core technology team, we are looking for a reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills to work in fast paced environment. The ability to multitask and use multiple tools to support system monitoring, data analysis, and troubleshooting are required.
Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in an information technology/computer science related field or equivalent experience.
Candidates are required to have minimum two years of progressive work experience in programming and/or analysis with strong analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills.
The starting salary range for this position is $60,700-$75,900. SMECO offers and excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
