Job Description




To provide efficient construction, operation and maintenance of all types of conductors, structures and equipment used in the transmission and distribution systems. 


 A. Performs all types of complicated construction and maintenance of de-energized and energized distribution and transmission systems. Work on energized transmission must be under the direction of a General Foreman or above. 

B. Patrols lines while traveling throughout Co-op service area and makes repairs as needed; also reports conditions that cannot be corrected by the crew. 

C. Follows safety rules and regulations and immediately reports all accidents to assigned supervisor. 

D. Assists in the training of Apprentice #1 through #8, as assigned. 

E. Operates automotive and construction equipment, when required, completing the necessary safety and mileage reports. 

F. Maintains working knowledge of all current operational and construction specifications, to insure that all work is completed according to requirements. 

G. Uses two-way radio in accordance with Co-op and FCC regulations. 

In addition, duties of equal or lesser skill may be assigned by the Chief Lineman, Serviceman, General Foreman, or assigned supervisor, to meet emergencies or other operating needs.



This job requires reading, writing and mathematics; therefore, a high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred, but not required. 


At least six months experience as an Apprentice # 8, successfully completing Apprenticeship Training Program. Must be able to demonstrate computer skills associated with Mobile Work Force Management duties.

Must hold a valid Maryland Commercial Driver’s License, Class A, and a current Department of Transportation Medical Examiners Certificate. 

Must have the physical ability to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job, which include, but are not limited to, climbing poles, ladders and structures, bending, pushing/pulling, digging, lifting and carrying loads averaging 80 pounds.
