Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Lead Technical Analyst for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). The primary function of this position will be to manage the planning, engineering and evaluation of intermediate to complex new and existing information technology (IT) network/system projects based on SMECO’s Corporate Plan, the IT Strategic Plan, the Information Security Program, and use specifications. The position will oversee problem resolution of storage arrays, network hardware and software; assesses emerging technologies and develops technical standards, which are complex in nature. Finally, this position will jointly manage the IT Help Desk, IT equipment administration and assist with risk management.

The starting salary range for this position is $100,600-$135,400. SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.

Bachelor's or advanced degree in an information technology/computer science related field. Experience will be considered but will not be a substitute for the degree requirement.


Six to ten years of hands-on work experience in network administration, preferably with a focus on SCADA systems and CIP compliance. Must have experience supervising technical teams.

Technical Skills:

· Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking

· Strong understanding of network and host security.

· Familiar with VMware and SRM.

· Familiar with Storage Area Networks, EMC VNX a plus.

· Familiar as a Windows System Administrator

· Familiar with routing and VLANs

· Familiar with VPNs

· Familiar with firewalls, preferably CISCO

· In-depth knowledge of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements, regulations, and compliance standards.

    · Proven leadership experience, including managing a team and coordinating their efforts to meet objectives.
