Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Senior Reliability Compliance Manager. This position is responsible for adhering to and ensuring all components of SMECO’s Internal Compliance Program are properly implemented to reduce risk of non-compliance sanctions.  In addition, this position will verify accurate and timely reporting procedures to Reliability First Corporation (RFC), NERC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Department of Energy (DOE) and the State of Maryland. Develop and carry out business processes required to annually certify compliance.  Develop and implement mitigation plans for violations. Develop and carry out audit processes, appeals and dispute resolution process. Lastly, this position will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to Reliability Compliance; develops and coordinate NERC required training for personnel directly responsible for carrying out NERC standards, as well as general awareness training for all SMECO personnel; tracks and analyzes NERC/FERC compliance standards.

Seeking motivated individual to work in compliance related to Electric Reliability.  The Senior Reliability Compliance Manager will be required to Administer SMECO’s Internal Electric Reliability Compliance Program, ensure that key tasks are developed, implemented, tracked, and completed on a timely basis. Some key components of the job responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the culture of electric reliability compliance throughout the company.
  • Manage internal procedures for collecting, analyzing, reporting, and tracking electric reliability compliance.
  • Identify potential violations, investigate and remediate all alleged and confirmed violations.
  • Direct the analysis, reporting, and tracking of any violations. Identify and recommend improvements to operating policies and procedures to improve operations efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Represent the company in standards revisions and development.
  • Conduct Compliance training.

Starting salary ranges is $86,100-$111,600 annually.  SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Education:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s in Business, Engineering or other relevant degree. Previous experience in utility operations or compliance auditing preferred.  Compliance certifications/qualifications such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or CCEP-F are preferred. Excellent written, oral communication, and organizational skills.

Experience:

We are seeking candidates with ten or more years’ experience in technical writing, engineering, operations, planning, or compliance functions directly associated with electric power systems. Previous experience working with an electric utility is preferred.
