PART TIME
PURPOSE:
1. Monitors the distribution system in compliance with SMECO operational procedures.
2. Assist DSO in the day-to-day operation of the distribution system by dispatching resources for construction, maintenance and outage restoration. Ensures timely restoration.
3. Working directly with Senior Distribution System Operators, and Distribution System Operators while observing their duties during switching activities.
THE JOB FUNCTION INCLUDES:
1. Operates the Outage Management System (OMS) to: (a) detect and respond to distribution outages as required; (b) analyze and promptly act on OMS incidence(s) assist in locating the trouble, (c) assist the Distribution System Operators in updating the OMS by maintaining PragmaView in real time ; (d) prepare and maintain daily operations logs, regions logs, and assists in preparation of major outage reports as necessary, to account for CAIDI, SAIDI, CAIFI, SAIFI, etc., documentation, and pertinent information regarding alarms, reporting them to the appropriate departments; (e) report issues with telephone and CATV lines to respective companies.
2. Under supervision, observes SCADA alarms.
3. Assist with dispatching scheduled field activity assignments to Servicemen, Linemen, Meter Service Technicians, Field Customer Representatives.
4. Monitors: (a) the weather satellite system to provide timely reports of any severe weather warnings/watches, etc.
5. Utilizes software products including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, (GIS) CGI (OMS), CAD.
6. Evaluates SMECO Emergency Desk calls and determines required course of action. Perform other such duties as assigned and completes training necessary to maintain and enhance job performance.
This position pays $18.00/hr.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Minimum Education:
Must be enrolled in an Engineering or Electrical program with emphasis in business administration with preferred science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses. Business administration and management training preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
