Home Performance with ENERGY STAR

Home Performance with Energy Star logo

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR takes a whole-house approach to reducing a home’s energy use while improving its comfort, durability, and safety. Instead of tackling energy problems individually, such as replacing an old heating and cooling system or fixing leaky ductwork, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR looks at a home as one system and recommends comprehensive improvements for better results.

How It Works:

  1. It starts with a home energy audit. For only $100* (a $400 value) through SMECO’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, a participating home performance contractor will use diagnostic tests to identify specific improvements to reduce energy use by up to 20%.
  2. The contractor will provide a list of solutions and details on the associated energy savings and rebates available from SMECO—up to $4,300!
  3. As the homeowner, you decide which solutions make sense for your home and budget, and then the contractor will get to work installing them.

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is a national program of the U.S. Department of Energy. Working in partnership with the national program, SMECO’s locally sponsored Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program is available to current SMECO customer-members. Learn how to get started today!
