❄️Winter Storm Outage Update—February 23, 2026, 3 p.m. ❄️

As of 3 p.m., more than 40k outages have been restored. Crews continue to restore power throughout Southern Maryland. All storm-related outages should be restored by midnight tonight.

❄️❄️❄️ Winter Storm Outage Update—February 23, 2026,
10:20 a.m.

A coastal snow event blanketed Southern Maryland with wet, heavy snow. Combined with gusty winds, the storm brought down tree limbs, trees, and power lines causing widespread outages. All available SMECO crews have been working throughout the night and are still actively repairing damage and restoring service. Additional crews from Shenandoah Electric Cooperative will arrive this morning to assist with restoration efforts.

💨 Wind is expected through Monday, February 23, which may cause additional outages.

⏰ Estimated time of restoration (ETR): During major storm events or other times when there is a high volume of outages, the ETR may not immediately be available when the outage is reported.
