SMECO Employees Raise $60,000 For Three Local Hospitals

Each of the following received $2,500: American Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region, A Community That Shares (ACTS), Patuxent Habitat for Humanity, and Clements Cuties Foundation.
The donation of more than 3,100 pounds of food will enable the food bank to feed more than 140 families.
The following SMECO members were elected to serve on SMECO’s Board for three years: Susan Hance-Wells of Calvert County; Kenneth W. Cross and Edward Holland of Charles County; and Walter Rayner Blair III and William R. Cullins III of St. Mary’s County.
Recipients receive awards based on scholastic achievement, financial need, and school and community involvement.
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc.’s application for adjustments to its retail rates and charges for electric distribution service and other tariff revisions.
Receiving awards this year were eight math teachers, nine science teachers, and three CTE-STEM teachers from schools in three counties.
The committee will review candidate applications for the five Board positions to be elected this year - one position in Calvert/Anne Arundel counties, two positions in Charles County, and two positions in St. Mary’s County.
Richards represented Prince George’s County and served on SMECO’s Board since 2001.
