As energy efficiency becomes more important to buyers, the need for Home Energy Raters grows. By conducting energy audits of homes, and providing a HERS Index score and recommendations for improving that score, you’re helping customers make their homes as energy efficient as possible.

Work With a Builder
Partner with a builder who you can work with to make sure their designs qualify for financial incentives as part of SMECO’s ENERGY STAR® for New Homes Program.
To be eligible, homes must:
- Be new
- Be separately metered
- Have SMECO as the electricity provider
- Be completed within 12 months of when application is submitted
- Utilize 100% LED lighting
- Pass required ENERGY STAR inspections
Home Registration System
Once you’ve partnered with a builder, submitting homes through Ekotrope is easy. Program submission access will be provided to you so you can register and submit homes through Ekotrope.
